This four-day, instructor-led course teaches IT professionals how to leverage Azure’s hybrid capabilities to harden server security, implement high availability, enable disaster recovery, migrate workloads, and monitor Windows Server environments across on-premises and Azure. You’ll learn to use tools like Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Azure Arc, Azure Monitor, Defender for Identity, Site Recovery, and more—equipping you to manage and protect your hybrid Windows landscape.

Prerequisites:

  • Several years of Windows Server experience, including ADDS, networking, storage, and virtualization

Course Outline 

Module 1: Secure Windows Server on-premises & Hybrid

  • Harden server operating systems using Exploit Protection, Credential Guard, Adaptive App Controls, and BitLocker encryption

  • Secure AD DS, DNS, and user accounts with policies, protected users, and authentication silos

  • Configure Windows IaaS VM network security and integrate Azure Update Manager 

Module 2: Implement Windows Server High Availability

  • Configure failover clustering with Cluster Shared Volumes and Scale-Out File Server

  • Implement VM high availability and scale sets for resilience across hybrid environments 

Module 3: Disaster Recovery for On-premises and Hybrid Scenarios

  • Deploy Hyper-V Replica, Azure Site Recovery, and backup strategies for both on-premises and Azure workloads

  • Configure recovery vaults and conduct failover/failback drills for hybrid continuity 

Module 4: Migrate Servers and Workloads to Azure

  • Use Azure Migrate and Storage Migration Service for VN-to-IaaS VM migrations

  • Upgrade AD DS and IIS workloads and migrate server roles and containers to hybrid cloud setups 

Module 5: Monitor and Troubleshoot Hybrid Infrastructure

  • Monitor Windows Server using Azure Monitor, VM Insights, Log Analytics, Performance Monitor, and Event Logs

  • Troubleshoot hybrid networking, AD replication errors, VM startup issues, storage, and disk encryption
