Course Description

Master how to configure and operate Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in this 4-day, instructor-led training designed for Azure administrators. Learn to plan virtual desktop architectures, deploy host pools and session hosts, manage applications and user profiles, implement FSLogix, secure access, and monitor session performance. This course equips you with skills to deliver scalable, secure, and optimized virtual desktop experiences across Azure.

Prerequisites:

  • Solid Azure admin fundamentals—networking, compute, identity, storage, and backup/restore

  • Experience with on-premises VDI or Remote Desktop Services environments 


Course Outline (SEO-Integrated Agenda)

Module1: Plan AVD Architecture and Identity

  • Assess infrastructure and plan Azure Virtual Desktop architecture

  • Design host pools, session hosts, and identify network and identity requirements (Azure AD or AD DS) 

Module2: Implement Networking and Storage for AVD

  • Configure Azure Virtual Network (VNet), subnets, connectivity, DNS, and Azure Bastion

  • Provision Azure Files or Azure NetApp Files for FSLogix profile container storage

Module3: Create and Manage Host Pools & Session Hosts

  • Deploy host pools with personal or pooled desktop assignment

  • Build session host images using VM Image Builder, Shared Image Gallery, or PowerShell 

Module4: Implement FSLogix and User Environment Configuration

  • Implement FSLogix Profile and Office containers, including Cloud Cache and app masking

  • Configure user experience settings (redirected folders, device redirection, Universal Print) 

Module5: Manage Access, Security & Applications

  • Apply RBAC, Conditional Access, MFA, and configure session host security via NSGs and Defender

  • Publish RemoteApps, integrate MSIX App Attach, OneDrive, and Teams on AVD 

Module6: Monitor, Scale & Maintain AVD Environment

  • Monitor AVD using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and AVD Insights; troubleshoot session host performance

  • Configure autoscaling, Disaster Recovery, Azure Site Recovery, and implement backup strategies
